The latest versions of WinSteam, @Air, @Gas and XLInterp are compatible with the 32-bit version of Microsoft Excel 2010. The 32-bit version is the default installation with Office 2010 and Microsoft recommends installing this version if you want compatibility with 32-bit add-ins and accessories. The 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel 2010 will not recognize any of our 32-bit products as viable add-ins.
An update of WinSteam 3.2 was released on August 12, 2010 to fix a minor bug. WinSteam 3.2 Release 2 is a free upgrade to all licensed users of WinSteam 3.x.
The latest versions of WinSteam, @Air, @Gas and XLInterp are compatible with Windows 7. If you are running the 64 bit version of Windows 7, please note that add-in files will be installed in the appropriate Office Library directory which is in the Program Files (x86) folder. As with Windows Vista, the WinHlp32.exe file in not included with Windows 7 and must be download from Microsoft. See the link below to find the file.
The latest versions of WinSteam, @Air, @Gas and XLInterp are compatible with Windows Vista. The only problem under Windows Vista relates to the use of help files. All Techware products use Microsoft's WinHlp32.exe program for displaying help files but this program is not included with the base Vista installation. The program has to be downloaded from Microsoft (for free) and installed separately.
Go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and search for the file "WinHelp32.exe". You will find a title "WinHelp32.exe for Windows Vista". Download and install this program and help will be available as with earlier versions of Windows.
The latest versions, WinSteam 3.2, @Air 3.2, @Gas 3.2 and XLInterp 1.2 are compatible with Microsoft Office 2007. In versions of Excel prior to Office 2007, a link to Techware's help files was placed on the Excel Help Menu. In Office 2007, there is no Help Menu but Excel will place the link on an Add-Ins tab from which you can click to launch the help files. We have found that Excel's translation from Help Menu to Add-in Tab is unreliable and sometimes causes Excel to crash upon loading the add-in. To remedy this, the latest versions of our Add-ins detect if you are running a version of Office earlier than 2007 and only then will it include the Help Menu link. If you are running Office 2007, you will have to go to the TechwareEng group on the Start Menu to launch Help.
Over the many years that Techware has been offering our software products, we have never raised the price of any product. By holding the prices constant over many years, that real cost of our software products has steadily decreased due to general inflation. Once again, we have decided to keep the price of our software products the same and are still maintaining our very liberal upgrade policies.
One area in which we have had difficulty containing costs is in the reproduction and handling costs associated with shipping software packages on CD. For this reason, in addition to our normal shipping costs, we are now including a media charge of $15.00 per item for all software products shipped on CD. Since the majority of our customers elect to download the software anyway, this increase will not affect most customers; delivery by download is still free.
We believe that downloading the software has many advantages over a physical delivery anyway. It is fast, easy and you don't have to worry about losing your CD. The software is always available for download from our website whenever you need it and you are insured of installing the latest version.
